Little more on the St Ambroise Barrel Aged:

St. Ambroise (McAuslan) does an annual barrel-aged beer. 2015 was a Scotch Ale, 2016 was an Imperial Porter. This year is a "blonde barleywine" at 10.2% in a corked 750ml. More info at http://mcauslan.com/collection-barrique/ (in French)

The most interesting thing is at the bottom: "Disponible dans la province de Québec seulement" which makes me wonder how we got it here?
The next beer you try might be the best beer you will ever have.

Brewer's Advent Calendars and Craft Beer Advent Calendars now at NLC!!

Brewer's Advent calendar
http://www.nlliquor.com/products/18926/ ... dar%202017

Looks like you get 24X500 ml cans of German (just German) beer plus a tasting glass. Can anyone confirm the size of the cans? I believe it tells you right on the side of the box exactly what's in it.

Priced at $125 it's a much better deal than the Craft Importers calendar, BUT I think I'm going to pass. Last year's German one had no stouts, no sours, Lots of Dortmunders, Helles, Marzens, Dunkelweizens, all good stuff but not super exciting.

Also Craft Beer Advent Calendar
http://www.nlliquor.com/products/17918/ ... dar%202017

Priced at $180. Wow. I'm not sure I can do that this year. I feel like it's a better idea to splurge on the CBA leftovers when they come in.

The advent calendars sold out in seconds at the Grand Falls NLC. I managed to snag one of each.

I'm passing on the Craft Beer Advent Calendar this year. I was really disappointed in last year's calendar, especially for the price point.

Anyone know a site where you can check out what is in the Beer Advent calendar before you buy it?

Didn't even know they were available until I got the email saying they were sold out. What did they order, 10? Last year there were plenty available.

Last year quite a few were brought in based on the large numbers that sold the year before. There were quite a few left around due to soft sales so this year the number ordered was reduced quite a bit. I didn’t get home until mid afternoon on Friday and I didn’t get there in time to get one, there were only 3 of the German ones left at Stavanger so I at least grabbed one of those.

This is an item that it is tough to predict sales, this is exactly why club members need to rely to beer offerings to add what they would order to get a better sense of demand. I have heard the NLC has tried to order more but I don’t know the answer yet.

One club member was so pissed he didn’t get that one that he requested to be removed from the club as being a member “wasn’t worth the effort” I will laugh if the NLC gets more as the club members will get advanced warning to go get them and he won’t hear about it.

Tom did offer to trade me a 2015 Utopias for a Calendar...guess what my answer was?

I don't remember getting any Beer Club notice about the advent calendars this year. Previous years we got an offering notice and the link to "express interest" by saying we would buy one or not, and location. Also, there was something last year or year before with a choice of Craft Importers versus German.

This year I'm pretty sure I heard nothing until we got the mass mailout stating that calendars would be showing up on Nov 10. It seems to me (correct me if I'm wrong) that NLC just made their own estimates based on last year or whatever. So if a club member didn't get one, how can that be the fault of the beer club??? Even if it's a beer club offering, NLC still has final decision on how much to stock, where to stock, etc.

Mike, if you and Tom personally agreed to buy one for every beer club member, but then for some reason told one guy "Sorry man, you can't have one" then perhaps that guy could be annoyed at you. But if NLC doesn't stock enough, then that's not your fault.
